JOB DESCRIPTION 

 

SCOPE 

 

Christian Academy seeks to hire a Secondary Instructional Coach for the 2024-2025 school year. This full-time, 11-month position plays a key role in the success of the Christian Academy School System and the fulfillment of its mission to “…develop students with a heart for God who grow as Jesus did in wisdom, stature and in favor with God.”    The Instructional Coaches at Christian Academy are focused on developing and improving teacher expertise in a way that is responsive to the needs of their classrooms and students. They understand that each teacher has a unique level of expertise and they work to provide coaching and training that is tailored to teachers' individual needs. By using data to drive decision-making, Instructional Coaches help teachers identify areas for improvement and work collaboratively with them to find real solutions to challenges faced in the classroom. Their goal is to ensure that every teacher at Christian Academy has the tools and support they need to meet the needs of students and inspire peak performance in their classrooms.  This position will serve secondary teachers at both the English Station and Indiana campuses.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

 

The candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect: 

  • A strong, clear Christian testimony with a mature and Godly spirit 
  • A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school 
  • Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a local church whose beliefs are in agreement with Christian Academy’s Statement of Faith 
  • Agreement and belief that The Bible is the final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind

The ideal candidate shall possess: 

  • A Master’s Degree in an Education related field
  • A minimum of five years of classroom teaching 
  • Eligibility for ACSI certification 
  • Knowledge of the latest advances in best practices in curriculum and instructional pedagogy
  • Previous experience leading teams of adults 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Literacy in classroom integration of technology, specifically a working knowledge of, or a willingness to be trained in, Canvas
  • Strong analytical skills 
  • Ability to collaborate with others



ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

 

  • Instructional Coaching

 

    • Leads and supports teachers to use student data to drive instruction and intervention
    • Helps develop and review lesson plans to provide curricular guidance as needed
    • Models lesson planning and delivery as appropriate that aligns curriculum and instructional best practices
    • Has confidence in own teaching ability as this position will have to model best practices in front of students and highly-experienced teachers
    • Performs lesson observations and provides specific and actionable feedback for improvement
    • Works with teachers to build upon their strengths to improve instruction without being evaluative

 

 

  • Collaboration and Teamwork

 

    • Collaborates with other Instructional Coaches to ensure a seamless K-12 instructional framework
    • Assists school administration and teachers with the implementation, analysis, and reporting of campus-level data
    • Serves as a resource and support to all faculty and staff
    • Maintains open communication and positive relationships with staff, teachers, and academic leadership teams.
    • Collaborates with teachers to find real solutions to challenges faced in the classroom using data to drive decision-making
    • Networks with other Christian schools, administrators, and associations

 

 

  • Professional Development

 

    • Facilitates, creates, and/or presents professional development activities with teachers and staff as needed in coordination with principals
    • Provides recommendations for system-wide professional development based on the instructional needs of teachers
    • Assists with the development, review, and implementation of curriculum, instruction, and assessments
    • Updates personal knowledge of best educational, instructional, and assessment practices


OUTCOMES 

 

The measurability of outcomes will be based on the annual goals set for the system, which will include a timeline of attainment. 

  • Strong collegial relationships developed throughout the system
  • Development of classrooms to serve as instructional models for other teachers
  • Professional development aligned to inspire peak performance in teachers
  • All secondary teachers will have the opportunity to participate in the coaching process

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP 

 

The Instructional Coach is responsible to the Head of Academics of the School System in conjunction with campus Principals.
