The Educational Resources Teacher works efficiently as a servant-leader to accomplish the essential job results while directly or indirectly providing services to students with academic weaknesses.  The Educational Resources Teacher serves as a liaison between the parents, classroom teachers and outside service providers.  Consistent with our mission to develop every student with a heart for God, we also focus on the individual success of our students in the classroom.  Academic success is defined differently for every student, so we seek to provide a learning environment that enables our students to achieve their educational goals. Educational Resource teachers provide services for students who are struggling with academics in the classroom. 

 

Qualifications

 

The candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect:

  • A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit
  • A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school
  • Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith for the Christian Academy School System

The ideal candidate shall possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field
  • State teaching certification and Special Education certification
  • A minimum of three years teaching in Special Education
  • Master’s degree in Special Education preferred

Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • Attend faculty meetings: bi-weekly Educational Resource team meetings, campus faculty meetings, and monthly CASS Academic Support meetings
  • Understands and implements the Matthew 18 principle with students, parents, peers, and administration in an appropriate manner
  • Maintain current knowledge of CASS services for students with learning differences
  • Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment
  • Submit progress reports of caseload to CASS Administration as requested 
  • Collaborate with Director, Coordinator/other Educational Resource Teachers, Therapists and classroom teachers as appropriate
  • Consult with outside service providers, such as occupational therapists, speech pathologists, tutors, etc.

 

Tier I Academic Support:

  • Perform classroom observations of referred students
  • Communicate, support and model instructional intervention strategies for teachers
  • Develop RTI Plan with written recommendations
  • Communicate with teachers to collect data on specific strategies and process academic referrals
  • Consult with Tier III Intervention Specialist/Educational Therapist and/or Coordinator regarding interpreting and understanding data from Psycho-Educational test report for students that are not in a program, but require accommodations and/or modifications.  
  • Develop and Implement an accommodation/modification plan for students not in a program when needed
  • Monitor progress for students that are not in a program

Tier II Academic Support

  • For Tier II recommended students, assess the level of need through additional academic screening(s) 
  • Continue RTI plan with additional Tier II services-include Student Profile sheet
  • Provide direct services to students, such as collaboration in the classroom, small group/1:1 remedial instruction, enhanced study hall and DAP (middle school) directed study hall (high school) 
  • Collect, document and track student data in order to make informed decisions regarding student services
  • Communicate and monitor student progress on RTI plan with teachers and parents regularly
  • Communicate with the coordinator to Initiate Psycho-Educational Testing as appropriate 
  • Represent the school at ARC meetings and conferences with outside agencies as appropriate
  • Analyze data and communicate with Tier III Interventionist, ER staff, principles, therapist, etc. for student placement and programming needs

 

Tier III Interventionist/Educational Therapist

  • Using data from Psycho-Educational test reports, develop a Student Success Plan, which includes information regarding areas of strengths and weaknesses, write specific annual goals, accommodations/modifications, and additional services the student is receiving 
  • Provide direct intensive intervention services to students with Psycho-Educational Testing
  • Provide strategies for home practice that facilities student learning
  • Consult with the ER team and teachers regarding referrals for private specialized services (tutoring, occupation or speech therapy, etc.)
  • Collect and document measurable data on current student goals and objectives
  • Communicate and monitor student progress on Student Success Plans with teachers and parents regularly
  • Monitor the effectiveness of current accommodation/modification plans
  • Modify Student Success Plans as needed and at least yearly
  • Conduct parent conferences to explain testing results, programming, and progress

Reporting Relationship

 

The Educational Resource Teacher reports to the High School Principal and Director of Educational Resources.
